Steven Spielberg’s latest UFO-themed movie, Disclosure Day, has arrived, having opened on Friday, June 12. For me, it was the most stealth opening of a potential Spielberg blockbuster in history. I have the TV on in the background most of the day, while I work. I never caught a trailer.

I watched the Stanley Cup Finals, a usual venue for blockbuster movie trailers, but didn’t see a single one. Maybe there was one, but I didn’t see it- and I was trying.

I didn’t watch the NBA finals – I quit that sport (despite playing into college) after the referee game-fixing scandal that proved it was the equivalent of pro wrestling – so maybe they ran some there? I don’t know, but I haven’t seen a single trailer on TV.

I have seen a trailer on the internet, but it seems conspicuously absent in TV advertising. And I can’t help but wonder whether the lack of a robust advertising campaign is the result of this slippery disclosure process?

Nevertheless, Disclosure Day is a summer blockbuster, topping the weekend box office with a $44 million opening- Spielberg’s first summer blockbuster in over 20 years.

Having quit frequenting theaters for multiple reasons in my old age, I haven’t seen it yet. I will when it becomes available to see in my living room. When I do. I’ll post a review.

Perhaps the most newsworthy bit about the Discloaure Day opening was Spielberg’s comments about all his UFO movies: Spielberg said in a recent interview, “I can now present Disclosure Day and say: wouldn’t it be wonderful when people realize, after watching this film, that everything is true and always has been?”

Our Mad King recently chimed in on the subject (which is scary).

In a post to his social media site, Trump wrote: “Whereas previous Administrations have failed to be transparent on this subject, with these new Documents and Videos, the people can decide for themselves, ‘WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?’ Have Fun and Enjoy!”

Yeah, have fun.

Looking back, I think this is the strangest Disclosure scenario you could possible imagine. If anyone had told me 20-30 years ago that this was how things were going to turn out I would’ve thought they were high on drugs.

In such a case, I am reminded of the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzche’s famous declaration: Crooked is the path of eternity.
